Marlene Mußotter

My name is Marlene Mußotter and I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair of Methods of Empirical Social Sciences of Prof. Ingo Rohlfing at the University of Passau. My research interests lie in the field of political psychology and political behavior. I have published on national identity, the nationalism-patriotism distinction, and individual's attachments toward democracy in peer-reviewed articles such as Nations and Nationalism, Quality & Quantity and Journal of Political Ideologies.

Vita

Dr Marlene Mußotter studied political science in Freiburg, Maastricht (NL) and Passau, and has been working as a Post-doctoral researcher (100%, 5 SWS) at the chair of Prof. Ingo Rohlfing at University of Passau since 1 October 2023.

She received her PhD "On nation, homeland, and democracy: Toward a novel three-factor measurement model. Revisiting the nationalism-patriotism distinction" in 2023 (summa cum laude). During her doctoral studies, Ms Mußotter was a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford (UK) in 2022. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Political Psychology, Nations and Nationalism and Quality & Quantity. She has taught at the Universities of Passau, Freiburg and Bamberg. She was a scholarship holder of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and admitted to the mentoring programme at the University of Passau. Moreover, she is the founder of the initiative Scientia Futura

December 2023: I successfully defended my PhD (summa cum laude)!

November 2023: My newly developed measurement model for nationalism and two types of patriotism was accepted in the DeZIM panel survey in 2024!
